Participate: Advent of Code 2024

FSR Informatik wishes everyone a good start to the Christmas season 2024!

The Advent of Code has existed since 2015. This is an event in December that focuses on solving small to large programming puzzles. Every day from December 1st to December 25th at 6:00 a.m. (CET time) a new puzzle will be unlocked that needs to be solved. You can collect up to 2 stars per day if you correctly solve the 2 tasks in the puzzle.

This year we created a leaderboard for the university again. You can find out how you can join further down in the text. We think this is a great opportunity to have fun while building your programming skills.

We will meet on Sunday December 1st at 6:00 in the morning in the FSR room in the KZH to solve the daily Advent of Code tasks as soon as they appear. Here you can exchange ideas, drink hot chocolate, and snack on gingerbread and spekulatius! Let’s start the Advent season together and look forward to exciting puzzles and programming challenges!

Join our Student Council Discord to stay up to date!

How to join

  1. Log in to https://adventofcode.com/2023/auth/login with one of the possible auth providers, e.g. GitHub.
  2. At https://adventofcode.com/2023/leaderboard/private enter 3215519-ddea7c74 in the field and click on Join.
  3. Happy coding!

A small note on the side: the problems in the first few days are easier than later ones. That’s why our advice: definitely start from day one, even if it’s already December 15th.

It is also a great opportunity to create or expand your own portfolio (e.g. on GitHub). This can only be an advantage in later job interviews or internships.
